Cutera Pearl Fractional Laser

The Pearl Laser from Cutera® treats fine lines of the face and neck, uneven skin texture, and spots caused by sun damage.

Fractional Laser is an FDA approved treatment that is ideal for treating lines and wrinkles on the entire face and neck or having areas around the eyes and mouth treated only. The laser is used to quickly achieve visible laser skin resurfacing results. In addition, the Pearl laser helps to stimulate new collagen production. Collagen production can be expected to continue for four to six weeks after treatment, which serves to further reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Only one or two treatments are typically required, depending on your individual needs. The Pearl laser can be used on Caucasian, Asian, and Hispanic skin types.

Laser Skin Treatments FAQ

Who is a candidate for Pearl Fractional?

Patients with light-to-medium skin tones and skin imperfections due to aging and sun damage will benefit from a Pearl Fractional treatment.

How does a Pearl Fractional treatment feel?

Most patients describe the treatment as a series of fast, hot pinches. A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment to alleviate most discomfort. Practitioners may choose to augment topical creams with other medications based on patient requirements.

When will I see results? How soon can I wear make-up?

Many patients see improvement one week after treatment. Maximum results are visible in one to three months. Patients may apply make-up five days after the facial laser surgery.

How does Pearl Fractional compare to other fractional laser treatments?

Pearl Fractional’s unique laser wavelength offers a safe and effective treatment to reverse the signs of aging. This combination gives patients dramatic results in a single treatment with a quick, one week recovery period.

Can Pearl Fractional be part of a combination therapy?

Many patients have a Pearl Fractional treatment in combination with other existing cosmetic therapies. These include other Cutera laser and light procedures, such as Pearl, Laser Genesis and LimeLight. Discuss combination treatment options with your practitioner.

What is the LimeLight Facial?

The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.

What areas can be LimeLight treated?

The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and dcollet with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

What happens after the LimeLight treatment?

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?

New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be cured with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

What types of veins can be treated?

The Cutera CoolGlide can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Facial spider veins and large blue leg vein removal treatment reaps excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your physician will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment to follow up with.

How many vein treatments will I need?

Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition.

What happens after the vein treatment?

Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment. Patients who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.
