A Noticeably Younger Look Without Surgery

Non-ablative fractional resurfacing with the Fraxel SR1500 laser combines the best of two worlds. It allows you to achieve the results of ablative laser resurfacing without the downtime and risks.

Fraxel SR 1500 laser treatment is designed to target aging and damaged skin well beneath the skin’s outermost layer. In this way, Fraxel triggers the body’s own natural production of new collagen and elastin, yet healing occurs so quickly that there is very little downtime for patients.

Chelsea Handler shows why you should get fractional laser

Chelsea Handler took to Instagram to show off her amazing post-laser results.

In the post she shares a before and after image. The first image to the left is her skin before the treatment. It’s hard to believe that this photo was not doctored in some way as she appears to have noticeable wrinkles and pigmentation of which you do not often see. However, Chelsea claims that it is all her.

On the right hand side is Chelsea after the fractional laser treatment. You can see an incredible difference. The pigmentation appears to be completely eradicated and the wrinkles are completely diminished. Chelsea protests that the image isn’t part of a PR campaign insisting that she hadn’t been paid to promote this treatment.

The comedian who is 41 says the treatment is “awesome” and the results speak for themselves!

FRAXEL FAQ

What is Fraxel?

Fraxel treatments use fractional laser technology, i.e., technology that exposes a controlled fraction of the skin to the laser, to treat a broad range of skin damage, such as age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and other signs of aging. Depending on patient needs, Fraxel treatment can treat minor skin damage, help prevent the signs of aging, resurface moderately damaged skin or correct severe skin damage.

How long has Fraxel been available?

The first non-ablative Fraxel device was cleared by the FDA in 2003.

How does it work?

Fraxel treatment uses patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into the skin. The laser treats only a fraction of the skin tissue at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes rapid healing. This stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, replacing the old and damaged cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

How long is the treatment?

Depending on the size, location and condition of the area to be treated, Fraxel treatment can take anywhere between 20 minutes and 2 hours.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on your goals and constraints. We work with patients to weigh the aggressiveness of treatment against the downtime associated. Typically, patients require between 2 and 6 treatments.

What skin types and what parts of the body can be treated?

Fraxel lasers can treat women and men of all ages and skin colors. Fraxel treatment also works on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands.  Fraxel treatments are typically performed on the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, back, abdomen and buttocks.

When do the results appear, and how long do they last?

There are both immediate and progressive results. Soon after the treatment, the surface of your skin will feel softer, look brighter and show more even tone. The next 3 to 6 months will bring additional improvement as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal. Results can last for several years depending on your age and skin condition.

What will I look like immediately after the procedure?

Depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment, you may experience redness or swelling after the procedure that diminishes as quickly as the next day or over the next several days.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe an increased sensation of heat during the treatment. We will apply a topical anesthetic ointment before the procedure, which helps minimize any discomfort during treatment. Your physician may recommend additional medications, which you can discuss during your consultation.

Is Fraxel safe?

There is extensive research showing the safety of Fraxel treatments when performed by a physician with appropriate laser training.  As with any laser procedure there is always some risk of complications, which your physician will discuss with you during your consultation.
